Noosa Reconnection Yatra
Noosa National Park
3rd September 2016, 8am – 4.30pm
“Yatra” is a Sanskrit word meaning
‘journey’, ‘path of life’ or ‘pilgrimage’
A Yatra is a walk, largely in silence. Together,
with like minded people, we will travel through the outer as well as inner landscapes. This day will offer us the opportunity to explore and experience reconnection to ourselves and the natural world. This day is inspired by Yatra’s run by Ronny Hickel
Reconnection is our Theme for the Day.
WHAT WILL THE DAY BE LIKE?
We will walk about approximately 10km through dry forest, rainforest, banksia woodland and beaches, through level terrain and undulating hills. You will require a moderate level of fitness (though there is an option to catch a bus back after lunch)
As well as walking in silence through the beautiful nature of Noosa National Park, this yatra will offer a number of other activities. To help our reconnection process, we will pause in our journey for
• mindfulness meditation practice (guided and silent)
• basic yoga and mindful movement instructions and practice
• The option for swimming (at unpatrolled beaches)
We will meet at 8am for a warm up to our day together, to agree on principles and precepts for our journey. You will need to bring lunch, water and snacks.
NeLi Martin, a psychologist, yoga and meditation teacher will lead the Yatra. NeLi moved from Brisbane to the Noosa area at the beginning of 2015. She takes great daily delight in the Noosa National Park. It is a deep joy for her to share her new backyard treasure with you. NeLi will have guest co-teacher Jen Barrkman with her on this Yatra.
Jen is a psychologist who has extensive experience connecting people in groups, communities and organisations. She has been working with Playback Theatre for over 20 years. Together with NeLi, Jen has taught ACT in groups in Brisbane and at conferences internationally.
The teachings on Yatras are being offered freely. You are asked to contribute $25 to the cost of park fees and administrative costs involved in running the Yatra. You will have the opportunity to contribute Dana to the teacher(s) at the end of the day. For more about Dana, please read this blog post.
